Dore Designs has come together with Swarovski Elements, Brigham Young University (BYU) Ballroom Dance Program, Arthur Murray Dance Studios and DSI London to sponsor the Quickstep for Kindness video contest. Contestants will be judged on a 60 second or less influential video on how they are bringing about positive changes in their community with the use of their Ballroom Dancing talents. The grand prize for the contest includes a $ 10,000 travel sponsorship provided by Arthur Murray Dance Studios, fully paid entries to the U.S. National Amateur Dancesport Championships in Provo, UT provided by the BYU Ballroom Dance Program, a $ 3000 additional travel fund provided by Swarovski and Dore Designs, Mens costumes provided by DSI London and Womens costuming provided by Dore Designs.

Over the last decade, the Ballroom Dance industry has experienced an explosive rise in popularity as a result of hit reality television shows including So You think You Can Dance, Dancing with the Stars and Americas Best Dance Crew, which have reinforced dance as not just an art form but also as a means of self-improvement. With every major network having jumped on the dance reality television bandwagon, Ballroom dance has become an accessible and enjoyable art for both dance fanatics and non-dance audiences. Dore Designs can be seen on the amazing young dancers of the reality show, So You Think You Can Dance, and on the global stage in national and international dance competitions. Having once been a professional dancer and studio manager, Dore Designs CEO & Head Designer Dawn Smart has an undying passion for dance and wants to encourage young dancers to keep this magic alive.

The contest is also an excellent opportunity to encourage under-funded ballroom programs in high school and universities to keep the tradition of Dancesport alive. An increasingly popular art form and sport, Ballroom Dance has been recently recognized as a potential Olympic competition by both the International Olympic Committee and the United States Olympic Committee. “Quickstep for Kindness” video contest wants to enhance this kind of recognition for ballroom dancing.

Along with Brigham Young University, one of the sponsors of the contest, many top tier colleges and Universities have notable ballroom dance programs including Harvard, Yale, MIT, University of Maryland, Princeton, University of Michigan, Ohio State, Purdue, Arizona State and the University of California. Dore Designs and the other sponsors of Quickstep for Kindness are excited to begin receiving submissions from these and other teams around the country. Submissions are being accepted before January 13th 2013.
